Look what we have done, America

We have a helluva problem.  The very fabric of our country is being torn apart right in front of us by Obama and the obscure people behind the scenes who literally do want to change our society into a government-dependent one.  They have been dedicated to this "transformation" for decades, many with roots in the 1960s, but it really goes back further.  They don't like our America very much.  Obama and friends in Congress have essentially nationalized banks, two of our three major automobile companies, and now the healthcare industry (1/6th of our economy) with this insane healthcare legislation.  What is happening is greater in scope than the New Deal of Roosevelt and Johnson's Great Society combined.

Next in line comes financial system reform, immigration reform, energy, foreign policy, military culture, etc. True to Alinsky, Obama highlights, exaggerates and fans the flames of crisis, offers transformative solutions in the face of often intentionally created panic, and crams it through regardless of what the public wants or what is good for the country, all with an air of "I know best".   By doing so, he and cohorts accomplish their real goal --- create a very different America.  All done, of course, before the American people figure it out.  Ah, "never let a crisis go to waste."

One needed but watch Obama in the final days before the vote yesterday as he campaigned before thousands for his cause --- carefully selected audiences, lots of screams and squeals and a delivery by him with the deliberation and emotion of one rallying the masses against the common enemy.  This time it is the rich, the producers, the thinkers, the establishment -- in favor of the down trodden.  Notice the look on his face.  This is an angry man who doesn't like our America very much, a community organizer at work, an advocate of insurrection in full view.

Wake up America.

Name one government program that has been cost effective, that is paying for itself, is efficient, is not fraught with waste, fraud and corruption, and is not an enormous burden on taxpayers -- there is none.

We are being driven head-long toward creating a "dependent-upon-government" majority.  That means that you, the "producers", will have to carry more and more of the "takers".  A former politician friend once told me, “we are doomed when those riding on the wagon are screaming ‘pull harder’ to those pulling the wagon." What do those on the take do when those who are paying for it simply say (in various ways), "No more!" ... and fade away?

Ayn Rand's central theme in Atlas Shrugged, published in 1957, was the pillars of productivity, the entrepreneurs, thinkers, investors, risk-takers, and the citizen warriors who stand for freedom simply saying "No more" to the choking, initiative-killing bureaucracy and government control.   They chose to stop "the motor of the world" by simply withdrawing from the game.  Perhaps it is time for Atlas to finally shrug and say "No more".

The Pied Piper has played for fools the media, the naive and uninformed American "voter", and the growing number of those who expect government to take care of them.  The Democrats in Congress are essentially thieves -- they seemingly either have no clue as to what they have done, or more alarmingly, they simply do not care.  This is truly "generational theft", as my friend, John McCain says.

Just look at what we have we done in our democratic process.  The "takers" expect the "producers" to just keep on giving to satisfy their demands. As my friend quoted below said, “President Obama seeks to level the economic playing field.  That has worked in only one country – Somalia.  Everyone is poor.”  My friend, a shrewd and successful small business owner and a great thinker, summarizes the situation quite nicely below:

"You will recall that during the Presidential campaign, (John McCain) called out Obama for wanting to redistribute income in our country.  Look what Obama has done.  He is about to tell millions of voters:  “I have gotten you health insurance and you don’t have to pay much for it, just as I promised.  Rich people will…they will pay for everything. What is there not to like?”

We now have in this country a sense of entitlement that is breathtaking.  All but a few have to fight for our freedoms.  All but a few have to pay for the actual cost of what they receive from their government.  Most people don’t believe that they have to pay for helping the less fortunate with their health care; that is someone else’s responsibility.  And Obama can get away with this because there are more votes from those who get than those who give.

What he fails to understand, however, because of his blind ideology is:

1.      There aren’t enough rich people to pay for everything

2.      He can’t make “rich” people earn more to pay more taxes.  History shows that they will change their behavior.

3.      Everyone actually would like to be rich someday. This will have a chilling effect on the American Dream as success is punished so visibly and disproportionately

4.      More taxes mean less investment and fewer jobs.   The tax credits he offers will be worthless if people are out of work

5.      How much better off will people be when our vulnerability overseas has increased, because our country is clearly unable to afford to defend our national interests overseas.  You can’t cut back subsidized medical insurance to pay for defending our allies from North Korea or Iran attacks.  $4.50 gasoline may be the result.  The piper has to be paid.

Obama will be leaving all the consequences out of his new PR campaign, as he tells everyone that there will be a chicken in every pot. He can’t even admit that there is a downside.

While I agree that the insurance industry has brought a lot of this upon themselves, this bill won’t force insurance companies lose money.  If they can’t make money, they will stop offering products that do.  Then, increasingly, people will be forced to buy their insurance from those mysterious exchanges.  What companies will offer insurance on these exchanges?  Will the government have to step in when the private sector refuses to play?  Is that the real goal here?

I predict that many insurance companies will stop offering insurance that pays for every little bill.  They will offer lower premium/high deductible policies.  Then Democrats will cynically claim “look, premiums are coming down just as we said.” They will leave out the fact that people will pay for more of their own medical expenses outside of insurance.  We didn’t need a new law to get people to do that.

At the heart of this is the socialism that John McCain feared.  This is an experiment.  Obama couldn’t have found a worse time to be doing this."
