Any Bananarama and/or The Karate Kid fans pick up on the title? Now for the serious stuff…
A vacation at a $20 million estate for our President during these tough times is probably the last thing most Americans want to hear about (especially since so many can’t afford one themselves), but in our opinion, it may be Obama’s best decision since entering the Oval Office. President Obama has been in office for ~220 days, passed several risky bills, and spent more than $2.5 trillion. According to the President and his team, this is all part of the master plan, but don’t let his calm demeanor and crafty discourse fool you. It has been a very rocky road thus far, with many potholes and curves to come!
Two of the most significant, upcoming challenges to our Country’s success and continued reign as a superpower are paired with some good commentaries below. Please continue to read about these issues and voice your opinion, whatever it may be.
1) The War in Afghanistan: 2009 has become the deadliest year of the war and we still have 4 months remaining. This must be the most suppressed, bad news we haven’t heard since the war with the Taliban began nearly 8 years ago. Sure, the reports of casualties come in like every other year, but where is the backlash we became so used to in the past? After all the criticism of Bush’s handling of Iraq, what is Obama’s plan for victory in Afghanistan?
2) Healthcare: Let’s just say, we’re betting that most of the Hill’s Democrats would have preferred to stay in Washington rather than going home to their constituents this month. Town hall meetings across the Nation have been a nightmare for Democrats, one that they may not wake up from until this ObamaCare gaffe is put down once and for all. From Barney Frank insulting his constituency to Arlen Specter getting howled at in Philly, it certainly hasn’t been smooth sailing through the dog days of summer.
And, finally, we recommend stretching your brain around this article also, as it encompasses both of the issues mentioned above: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203706604574370301468452872.html
